Karla joined AAMPO in November 2024 as the Administrative and Grants Accounting Clerk. Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, she now proudly calls San Antonio her home. Before joining AAMPO, Karla served as a Transportation Planning Coordinator at a fellow Texas MPO, where she developed a passion for multimodal planning, safety, and public engagement.
Karla holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a specialization in Public Relations and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Karla is excited to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to the AAMPO team while continuing to grow as a transportation planning professional

Sandeep joined AAMPO in April 2024 as a Senior Travel Demand Modeler after serving for over 15 years as a Senior Engineer at the City of Edmonton, Canada. In his previous role, he provided analytics support to numerous planning projects using advanced transportation modeling. Sandeep holds a doctoral degree in Environmental Systems Engineering from the University of Regina, Canada. He is thrilled to join AAMPO to provide evidence-based, data-driven planning support for the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), and other long and short-range planning studies.
Wendy joined the Alamo Area MPO in June 2016. She earned an Associate of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Northwest Vista College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Wendy assists in the development of GIS-based maps and datasets that serve to strengthen the MPO’s transportation planning efforts. She enjoys and has volunteered for causes that help to preserve the environment and educate the community, such as Texas Recycle Day, Earth Day, Graffiti Wipe Out, and GIS Day.
Maribel joined the Alamo Area MPO in 2019 as the Administrative and Grants Financial Specialist. She brings over 15 years of experience in accounting, retirement financial management and friendly customer service. She is dedicated in supporting the MPO team and providing sound financial practices. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word and enjoys supporting SEAS, Boerne athletics, and Texas Parks & Wildlife with her family.
Clayton Elkins, a native of Houston, joined the Alamo Area MPO in June of 2008 as a GIS Analyst. Clayton graduated from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi in May of 2007, where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Science while serving as a GIS Intern for the Corpus Christi MPO. Clayton’s skillset has expanded as a member of the AAMPO team to include web development to complement his knowledge of GIS. Clayton is involved in many MPO functions, which include web development, maintaining GIS crash datasets, and facilitation at public meetings.
Félix Escamilla joined the Alamo Area MPO in June 2001 as Grants Coordinator and currently serves as Office Manager/HR Generalist. He is committed to providing us with sound, responsible spending and fair employment practices.
Jaclynn Fragoso joined the MPO in November 2007. As the agency's Multimedia Specialist, she is responsible for all creative elements (graphic design and digital multimedia productions) from conceptualization to delivery. Jaclynn’s creativity has been integral to developing a clear and consistent brand for the MPO as an organization, as well as its plans and programs. Her fresh and inviting publications, videos, infographics, and social media posts are also key to educating and inspiring people to use alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, bus, carpool and ride share in the region.
Mia joined the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) in 2024 as the Communications and Engagement Manager, bringing over eight years of public relations and communication experience. She is committed to engaging the public in the transportation planning process and is driven by a passion for continuously improving our region’s transportation across all modes including public transit, cycling, pedestrian pathways and roadways. She is originally from San Antonio and graduated from Trinity University.
Zack joined the Alamo Area MPO in April 2007 as Senior Transportation Modeler and leads its transportation modeling efforts by utilizing his twenty plus years of transportation modeling experience. He led demand modelers and traffic analysts in support of urban area modeling and corridor analysis for air quality attainment while employed at the Texas Department of Transportation. In addition, he provided technical support, training, and guidance for urban area travel demand modeling development and applications while employed at the Texas Transportation Institute.
Sonia has over 20 years specializing in consulting and managing business operations. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UTSA in 1994 and her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida in 2004. Prior to joining the MPO in July 2021, Sonia worked in the private sector providing consulting expertise in public involvement, strategic planning, and facilitation to her clients as well as managing small business operations.
Cecilio has over 13 years of experience in GIS and joined us in July 2003. He manages and maintains various websites for the Alamo Area MPO and leads special multimedia and GIS intensive transportation planning projects. Cecilio participates and is instrumental in creating GIS related forums or committees to achieve synergy among our partner agencies in delivering visual solutions to our community.
Matthew joined AAMPO in May 2023 as the agency’s Multimodal Transportation Planner. He was born and raised in San Antonio and sees the potential for safe and efficient travel for all transportation modes. He utilizes his experience and knowledge on pedestrian, bicycle, and transit planning to create fruitful change throughout the AAMPO study area. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Policy from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2021 and interned with VIA Metropolitan Transit.
Travis joined the Alamo Area MPO in March 2013 as a GIS Analyst. He has been a Regional Transportation Modeler with AAMPO since June 2016. Travis brings 20 years of GIS and forecast planning experience in both the public and private sectors to the MPO team. Prior to joining AAMPO Travis worked for a private Department of Defense Contractor while serving as a Specialist in the US Army Reserves. After that, he was employed by the Alamo Area Council of Governments as a GIS Analyst. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Penn State University and volunteers as the Sunday School Director and servers on the Parish Council at his church.
Ambar Perez is a native to Piedras Negras, Coahuila (México) and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from St. Mary’s University. She joined the MPO in 2008 as the Senior Administrative Assistant and now serves as the Bilingual Public Involvement Specialist. Ambar is responsible for community outreach, serves as the MPO’s contact for Spanish speaking individuals, performs multi-media language translations, and supports planning activities.
Javier Sandoval is a recent hire for AAMPO, joining in late 2022. He is a recent graduate of UTSA majoring in Public Administration. He is new to this but is slowly becoming a jack of all trades, helping out where he can, such as taking care of building maintenance, assisting at public events, and providing committee support.
Lori Stewart joined the Alamo Area MPO in January 2015 as Administrative Assistant. She brings twenty plus years of human resource, payroll and administrative professional experience to the AAMPO. Lori is committed to providing excellent administrative support and customer service.
