  1. Interim Executive Director's Report (pdf)  

a.    The AAMPO Transportation Policy Board has selected Brendon Wheeler, PE, CFM to be the next AAMPO Executive Director. Mr. Wheeler comes from North Central Texas Council of Governments where he was a Sr. Program Manager. He has 16 years in transportation engineering and regional planning. He is expected to start with AAMPO on February 2, 2026.  The Policy Board will consider ratifying this decision at the board meetings (see agenda item 16 below).

b.    The AAMPO Study Area boundary expansion has been approved by Governor Abbott.  The new Study Area includes the northern portion of Kendall County (to bring the entire county into to the boundary), the City of Lytle, and eastern Medina County to include Hondo and Castroville. New board and committee members will be seated at the March 2026 meetings.

c.     AAMPO staff is coordinating a study area tour to occur during February.  Please stay tuned for more information.

d.     The AAMPO Multimodal Regional Thoroughfare Study, listed as FY26-27 UPWP Subtask 4.7, Request for Proposals has been posted. Proposals are due on Friday, February 6, 2026. The recommended consultant will be considered by the Policy Board at their March 23, 2026 meeting.

e.    The February 2025 Transportation Policy Board meetings will likely be canceled. 

f.   The AAMPO office will be closed on February 16, 2026 in observance of Presidents' Day.

In accordance with the Alamo Area MPO’s Policy 2: Public Participation Plan, approval of routine amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)/Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), or other AAMPO adopted plans and programs requesting quick action due to federal or state requirements or deadlines (or for other reasons deemed in the community’s best interest) may be accomplished by a 75% vote of the Transportation Policy Board quorum present to waive the routine two-step process.

In these cases, the Transportation Policy Board will hold a special public hearing within the normal meeting agenda to specifically solicit public comment on the proposed document.

    AAMPO’s Transportation Policy Board will adjourn into Executive Session as authorized by Texas Government Code Section 550.071 (consultation with attorney), and Section 551.074 (personnel matters) to discuss and take action on the Executive Director's Employment Agreement and revision to the resolution dated December 16, 2024, regarding the Deputy Director's compensation upon termination of Interim Executive Director duties.
