2. Interim Executive Director's Report (pdf)  

a.     There is no news on the proposed AAMPO Study Area expansion. If approved by Governor Abbott, AAMPO’s Study Area will be expanded to include the remaining portion of Kendall County and the eastern portion of Medina County to include Hondo, Castroville, and Lytle. The request was sent to the Governor’s Office on March 6, 2025.

b.     The Freight Advisory Committee kick-off meeting is set for Friday, October 3 at 8:30 a.m. at TxDOT San Antonio District. This new committee is a result of the soon-to-be wrapped up UPWP Subtask 5.3 Regional Freight Study. Cambridge Systematics will be present the findings from the study at the October 2025 Transportation Policy Board meeting.

 c.    The October is National Pedestrian Safety Month and International Walk to School Day. AAMPO will be at various community events throughout the month beginning with National Night Out/San Antonio Neighbors Together on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Please look for us and help promote our presence. We will be doing a final push for public engagement related to the Mobility 2050 Update and distributing pedestrian safety messages and yard signs.

 d.     The AAMPO Executive Director search is well underway. The Executive Committee is expected to meet several times in October/November with a recommendation and proposed action at the December 2025 Transportation Policy Board meeting.

e.      Razi Hosseini, P.E., R.P.L.S., the City of San Antonio’s Director of Public Works is retiring. Razi has worked for the COSA since 1991. He has overseen the three largest Bond Programs that include construction of the convention center expansion, the Alamodome renovation and expansion, and the Market Street Realignment to name a few. He joined the AAMPO Transportation Policy Board in May 2020. We wish him the best for a full and happy retirement.
