    7.                       Announcements  

      a.    The AAMPO Transportation Policy Board has selected Brendon Wheeler, PE, CFM to be the next AAMPO Executive Director. Mr. Wheeler comes from North Central Texas Council of Governments where he was a Sr. Program Manager. He has 16 years in transportation engineering and regional planning. He is expected to start with AAMPO on February 2, 2026.

      b.    There is no news on the AAMPO Study Area boundary expansion. If approved by Governor Abbott, AAMPO’s Study Area will increase to include the northern portion of Kendall County (to bring the entire county into to the boundary), the City of Lytle, and eastern Medina County to include Hondo and Castroville. As soon as AAMPO gets notice, the committees and board will be notified.

      c.     The AAMPO Multimodal Regional Thoroughfare Study, listed as FY26-27 UPWP Subtask 4.7, Request for Proposals has been posted. Proposals are due on Friday, February 6, 2026. The recommended consultant will be considered by the Policy Board at their March 23, 2026 meeting.

      d.    The AAMPO office will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. and February 16, 2026 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

      e.    The February TAC and Policy Board meetings will likely be canceled. Stay tuned for email and website updates.
