Workshop Objectives

The program brings you together with transportation partner agency staff- to discuss transportation issues and concerns in the area that pose a barrier to the community being walk- and bike-friendly. You’ll be able to input issues involving transportation, code compliance issues, potential safety improvements, or lighting, in person or online, whichever is more convenient!

Following the public input period for the Walkable Community Workshop (WCW), AAMPO will summarize the WCW results and provide this to elected officials and our transportation partner agencies for planning purposes. The reports can launch a meaningful dialogue between you and your community leaders and be used to leverage for further studies or even funding!

Walking Audit

The King William Neighborhood Association board members, Lavaca Neighborhood Association board members, Alamo Area MPO, City of San Antonio, and VIA Metropolitan Transit staff will be conducting a walkability and bikeability audit on March 28th, 2026. An audit involves an impartial assessment and analysis of the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, aiming to identify concerns related to the safety, accessibility, comfort, and convenience of pedestrians and bicyclists within a specific environment. Beyond identifying problematic areas, the audit will explore potential alternatives or solutions, such as engineering interventions, policy adjustments, or educational and enforcement measures. This audit will help kick-off the civic engagement planned for the citizens, workers and visitors of the area in the coming weeks.
