Every year, San Antonio has celebrated the benefits of bicycling as a part of National Bike Month during the month of May. Various events are held across our community to celebrate cycling as a form of transportation, whether for commuting or for recreation!
As a part of this year’s local National Bike Month festivities, Bike | Beat will roll into Main Plaza for its 3rd year on May 18, 2019. Bike | Beat is a one-day festival dedicated to educating the community about life on two wheels, promoting a healthier, safer lifestyle and all the fun of being a part of the biking community. Bike | Beat is presented by the Main Plaza Conservancy, the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and SATX Social Ride.
The community is invited to walk or roll down to Main Plaza for a day filled with a wide variety of two-wheeled events. From bike art, bike maintenance, kids bike rodeos, safety class, and virtual races to live music, food trucks, and local brews, everyone is sure to have a great time. FrankenBike will kick off the day from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, followed by Bike | Beat from 3:00 – 9:00 PM. FrankenBike is a free bicycle swap meet held once a month in San Antonio and select U.S. cities that is open to anyone who wants to buy, sell or trade bicycles and bicycle related gear or parts.
